Staff Members
The number of staff members in the Discovery Programme varies from time to time. The Discovery Programme does not employ ‘researchers’ on a permanent basis. The bulk of the staff are recruited directly, as required, for each of our separate research projects. Prior to the commencement of each project, public advertisements are placed (e.g. in newspapers and on the web) to recruit specific staff who are selected on the basis of their relevant specialist qualifications and experience in the area being investigated by each separate project. In addition there is a small number of ‘support’ staff, made up of three administrative staff and two technical staff, whose role is to maintain the day to day workings of the organisation and to provide practical assistance to the research teams. Additional temporary staff and volunteer workers are recruited, as required, for the fieldwork seasons. In addition the Discovery Programme accepts ‘placements’ of students from both second level and third level educational institutions.
