The Discovery Programme: Centre for Archaeology and Innovation Ireland is committed to working with partners and engaging with the wider archaeological sector to identify research gaps and coherent themes for future research. Developing a research framework is a key recommendations of Archaeology 2025 and to promote discussion, The Discovery Programme is organising a series of seminars on different approaches to and applications of research frameworks.

The series began in February 2020 when Rhonda Robinson, HED, Dept for Communities, NI gave a presentation entitled "Towards a Strategic Framework for Archaeology in Northern Ireland 2030" and this was followed by a Q and A session.

The seminars will continue online, on Thursday during lunch time 1- 2.30pm. Each will begin with a presentation and followed by Q&A and discussion.

22 October: The Early Medieval Archaeology Project (EMAP): A model for a period-based approach to a research framework? Prof Aidan O'Sullivan, School of Archaeology, UCD.
