The Landscape of Lisnacrogher
The Heritage Council provided a small amount of additional funding for the investigation of one of the key wetland sites of the Irish Iron Age The question of whether the well known Iron Age hoard from Lisnacrogher, Co. Antrim came from a lake-settlement or was just a deposit in a bog has been under discussion for the last 110 years as the site was never fully documented. An opportunity to re-investigate the area around the site became available in 2004 when development of a gas-pipeline directly affected the area described by the antiquarians. New information about the site was retrieved. The full report on these investigations can be found in C. Fredengren, ‘Lisnacrogher Crannog in a landscape setting’, JRSAI 137 (2007), 29-40.
