Tara Research Project

The Tara Research Project has been a flagship project of the Discovery Programme since its establishment in 1991. This has been a multidisciplinary project from the beginning that has encompassed the disciplines of archaeology, history, anthropology, literature and topographical surveying to create an understanding of the very complex landscape of Tara. In the past decade considerable surveying has been undertaken on the Hill of Tara and in the surrounding landscape and this data requires critical analysis in order to inform future research.

The Discovery Programme has appointed Dr Roseanne Schot as Post Doctoral Fellow to the Tara Research Project to analyze and report on a range of archaeological survey data that has been recorded on the Hill of Tara and in the surrounding landscape in the past decade. Dr Schot will also contribute to the production of a research framework for the next stage of the Discovery Programme’s Tara Research Project as part of a collaborative team drawing on the expertise of The Discovery Programme, the NUIG Department of Archaeology and the Römisch-Germanische Kommission (RGK, Frankfurt).
