Artefact Reconstruction
A new area of research for the Discovery Programme has been to create digital reconstructions of artefacts. The primary source for these reconstructions is laser scan data gathered using the NextEngine scanner. A number of scans are gathered and these scans then go through a process of registration and wrapping using Gemoagic Studio software.
The resulting 3D model can then be exported to AutoCAD or Realworks where it can be measured and manipulated to allow us to generate the reconstructed model. The reconstructed models are created using 3DS max.
